There’s Waldo! A College Story

By: Miladin Balos, Alpha Class

Many of us are familiar with the color art “Where’s Waldo?” If you are not familiar with “Where’s Waldo?” let me enlighten you. A picture full of colorful characters and within this photo stands a man by the name of Waldo. The concept of this photo is to entice you to try and locate Waldo, in his red and white striped sweater, while being deceived by the photo and the other apparatuses within it. After countless minutes, sometimes hours, you finally find Waldo.

Many college students don’t realize this until they have graduated and are no longer in the running for a better future, but while in college they put on that red and white striped sweater everyday. No one recognizing who they are, what they’re capable of and most importantly how amazing they are! I’m here to tell you that this is your time to stand out and be the person you were born to be.

I attended Daytona State College, where I received my associate degree. Now being at one of the largest student body school’s in the nation, I am working towards my bachelor’s degree here at the University of Central Florida. It is easy to blend into a crowd of 62,000 students. That is why you need to apply yourself to all the opportunities that arise in your life.

Now, a year into my university career, I am an active member of Zeta Phi Eta, a national professional co-ed communication fraternity. I have obtained internships and built a social network with aspiring young students and successful professionals all with the help of this successful organization.

My message to you is DON’T FIT IN but STAND OUT! You are the writer of your story, creator of your destiny. Your dream is an action away from being your reality.
